WWE's pinkslip dispenser was once again active today, as Rene Dupre was released by the Stamford, CT-based organization.

In a statement on wwe.com, the company reported that, "World Wrestling Entertainment has come to terms on the release of Rene Dupree. WWE wishes Rene all the best in his future endeavors."

Though promoted as being from France throughout his WWE tenure, Dupre (real name Rene Goguen) was, in fact, born in Moncton New Brunswick. The son of Emile Dupre (Emile Goguen) began his march towards WWE in his father's Grand Prix promotion. He was signed by the Fed at the tender age of 18 and headed right away to Ohio Valley Wrestling.

Dupre (spelled Dupree during his WWE tenure) was introduced prior to his WWE in-ring debut to fans through a series of vignettes, alongside his tag team partner and fellow Canadian, Sylvan Grenier, in 2003. The two, under the tandem name of La Resistance, debuted soon after in the ring and instantly became one of the most hated teams in WWE. Along the way, they captured the World (Raw) Tag Team Titles and shortly thereafter, amidst a feud with the Dudley Boyz, were joined by "French sympathizer" Robert Conway, who was also released from WWE just a short time ago.

The trio would continue to have success in WWE's tag division, as Dupre, in part due to a cocky dance he developed, became the star of the trio. Dupre was eventually removed from the trio, as he was moved to Smackdown in the 2004 WWE Draft Lottery. Though he would initially be in the hunt for the United States Title, Dupre was unable to capture singles gold and later teamed with Japanese import Kenzo Suzuki. The two would eventually win the WWE Tag Team Titles.

In 2005, Dupre was shifted back to Raw but was unable to recapture his fanbase. Injury troubles soon began for the young star, which resulted in him being off WWE TV for a considerable amount of time between rehabilitation and stints in OVW.

Near the end of 2006, Dupre re-debuted as a narcissistic individual in the new ECW brand. Eventually, Grenier (who had been moved, at one point, to Smackdown) joined Dupre in ECW and the two briefly re-formed La Resistance. The duo's tenure, however, was short-lived, with their last appearance taking place in early 2007.
